Dental Resources

For those with questions about oral health issues and the science of dentistry in general, there is no shortage of reliable sources on the World Wide Web. A number of these are maintained by non-profit professional associations, dental schools and agencies of federal, state and local government; these tend to be the most reliable dental resources. In addition, commercial and corporate manufacturers of dental supplies and oral health products as well as private insurers sometimes maintain informational websites, but it's a good idea to keep in mind that such companies are in business primarily to make profits and promote their own products and/or services; therefore, information from such sites, while perhaps having some degree of reliability, is likely to be commercially biased in some way.

This is another comprehensive website maintained by a non-profit professional dentistry organization. While there is an abundance of excellent information here, the dental resources focus more on legal, social and technological issues surrounding the dental profession; material is geared more toward licensed dental professionals. One of the functions of the AGD is to recognize achievements of and professional excellence among member dentists. If you do not currently have a dentist and are seeking one, this website is a good place to start.

Although there is little at this site for the non-dental professional layman
